/ Sissel Gram Warringa, Designer

Possessing a keen eye for innovation and a deep understanding of materials, Sissel Warringa’s unique approach to design has attracted much international attention and praise in recent years.

Warringa's latest design, Peel, represents the culmination of years of research into metals and metal forms.

Introducing / A study in making metal appear soft

Meticulously crafted from a single sheet of metal and skillfully cut into a circular shape with a precise slit, Warringa's innovative design Peel seamlessly melds form and function, creating a softer, rounded feel not usually associated with metals. With the continuous bend of the metal serving both as a stable base and an elegant lampshade, Peel's strength lies in its simplicity.

Everything that’s within my hands I get an inspiration from. I started the design process of Peel when I was fiddling around with paper, and I thought ‘what does it look like when I cut out different circles and and twist it in so many different ways’”, says Warringa.

Peel also takes environmental friendly measures into account. The beautiful opal light source is composed of a specially crafted opal glass shade that screws onto a conventional GU9 light source, thereby avoiding unnecessary waste of glass materials.
